24-hour readiness check

Ten quick questions. A score out of 100 for how ready your business is for a fast lending decision — and a printable to-do list of exactly what to fix tonight. No credit check, nothing sent anywhere.

Answer honestly — the list is only useful if it's accurate.

01PurposeDo you know exactly how much you need and what it's for?

An exact figure backed by a bill, quote, contract or IRD summary.

02TimingWhen does the money need to land?

The date it must be received, not the date you'd like it.

03Bank statementsCould you export six months of statements for every business account tonight?

Full PDF exports from internet banking, not screenshots.

04Trading patternHow do your deposits look over the last six months?

Lenders look at regular income, low points and dishonours.

05IRD statusWhat's your position with Inland Revenue?

GST, PAYE and income tax returns, balances and any arrangement in myIR.

06NZBN and Companies OfficeIs your Companies Register entry (or NZBN, for sole traders) current?

Status, directors, shareholders, addresses and annual return.

07IdentityDo you have current photo ID for every director, owner and guarantor?

Driver licence (both sides) or passport, plus recent proof of address.

08Property securityIs there property that could support the loan?

Residential or commercial, owned by you, the business or a trust.

09Exit planHow will the loan be repaid?

A specific, dated source makes short-term lending much faster.

10SignersCould everyone who must sign do so within 24 hours?

Directors, co-owners, trustees, guarantors — and your lawyer for secured loans.

Why readiness decides how fast you're funded

In fast business lending, the assessment itself rarely takes long. A specialist can read six months of bank statements, check the Companies Register and look over a record of title within an hour or two. What stretches a 24-hour decision into a week is almost always the information arriving late, arriving incomplete or turning out to be different from what was on the form. That's what this check measures.

Each question maps to something a lender in New Zealand checks early:

  • Purpose and amount — what the money is for, with a document to prove it. See purpose and exit plans.
  • Bank statements and trading — the main evidence for unsecured lending. See how lenders read statements.
  • IRD status — whether GST, PAYE and income tax returns are filed and any balance is under control. See your IRD status.
  • NZBN and Companies Office — whether the business's official record is current. See the five-minute register check.
  • Identity — verification of everyone who owns, controls or guarantees the business. See identity checks.
  • Property — ownership, what's registered on the title and usable equity. See the property security checklist.
  • Exit and signers — how the loan comes back, and whether everyone can sign in time.

How the score works

Every answer carries points weighted by how much it typically affects speed. Bank statements, IRD status and property carry the most weight because they decide which lending path is open and how quickly it can move. If you don't have property, that question is removed from the calculation so the score reflects readiness for unsecured lending fairly.

ScoreWhat it usually means
80–100Ready for a fast decision. Enquire with your documents to hand.
55–79Close. One evening on the to-do list should make a 24-hour decision realistic.
Below 55Not ready for a same-day result yet — but every item on the list is fixable, and it's still worth a conversation.

The score is about readiness, not approval. A business with a lower score can still be funded — it just takes longer, because the missing pieces have to be found first. And a high score doesn't guarantee a yes; it means a lender can give you an answer quickly.

What speeds are realistic?

For a well-prepared New Zealand business: same-day funding is possible for smaller unsecured amounts; property-secured loans of $20k to $250k are possible same day; and up to $5m is possible within 24 to 48 hours. Everyday bank payments now move every day of the week, but property settlements still run on business days. Read the 24-hour process to see where the hours go.

When you've worked through the list

Send a short, accurate enquiry. It takes about 60 seconds, there's no credit check when you first enquire, and your details aren't pushed out to a stack of lenders. A real person reads it and calls you — and with your list ticked off, that first call can move straight to options. Start your enquiry here.

Frequently asked questions

Does the readiness check affect my credit score?

No. It runs entirely in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere, and there's no credit check. When you're ready to enquire, there's no credit check at that stage either.

What does the score actually mean?

It measures how ready your paperwork and information are for a fast lending decision — not whether you'll be approved. A high score means a lender can assess you quickly; a lower score shows what to fix first.

Why doesn't the check ask about interest rates?

Because readiness, not pricing, decides speed. Every loan is priced on the business's own circumstances, and a specialist explains the full cost before you commit to anything.

I don't have property. Will that lower my score?

No. If you choose 'no property', that question is left out of the calculation. Unsecured and cash-flow options typically range from $5,000 to $500,000 and are assessed mainly on bank statements.

Can I save or share my to-do list?

Yes. Use the print button to print it or save it as a PDF from your browser's print dialog.

How fast could I be funded with a high score?

It depends on the loan. Same-day funding is possible for smaller unsecured amounts; $20k to $250k is possible same day when property-secured; and up to $5m is possible within 24 to 48 hours. None of these are guaranteed.

No credit check to enquire

Asking what the next 24 hours could look like leaves your credit file untouched. A credit check is only discussed once you choose to proceed.

Not sprayed to a crowd

Your enquiry isn't fired off to a list of lenders. One team reads it and works out the right fit, so your phone stays quiet.

A real person on the clock

A specialist reads what you sent and calls you. Honest, accurate answers on the form mean the first option we discuss is the right one.
